Bugzilla – Bug 148258
YaST does not handle 302 Found correctly on OS installation?
Last modified: 2006-07-24 12:07:22 UTC
I tried to install named product via the "Internet Installation Boot Image", so i pressed F3 and then F4 to choose HTTP as installation source. Then i entered "download.opensuse.org" as host and "/distribution/SC-OSS-factory/inst-source/" as path. Strangely enough it then switched to text console mode (does not happen when i enter a "real" mirror), but it continued to download the basic kernel (not sure if it said that term exactly). After that i choose Start Installation and choose HTTP again and confirmed the data i entered before (but now with text interface instead of graphical). But then it reports 302 Found as HTTP error and does not continue. I think it should rather follow the 302 redirect and then choose that site as mirror. Also why does it go to text mode, does the installer code already know before something is going wrong with the 302 Found redirect?
Ok, the instructions under http://en.opensuse.org/Development_Version#Internet_Installation actually say to manually get a mirror address, but i think the redirect method should be possible, too (since all mirrors have the same content normally...). Switching to Enhancement.
Please attach the Yast logfiles (/var/log/YaST2/*)
Ok, Update: This textmode was linuxrc, not YaST. So basically all this bug is about is that YaST follows the 302 redirect and then stores the URL it gets as installation source.
Jiri: Please assign it back to us if this is nothing for you.
