During the installation process, when adding users
1. Fill in the initial screen for user's real name, user name and password
2. Click the button to go to the user management screen
3. Observe that the initial user account has a uid value of 1000
3. Add a new user
4. Note that the new user's account also has a uid value of 1000

Could be the same problem...
please attach the yast logfiles and the faulty /etc/fstab
