Description Christian Zoz 2006-02-06 12:03:20 UTC
When not using NM YaST configures just one interface. This single configuration has STARTMODE=ifplugd. This makes not much sense.

If we use ifplugd we should configure both interfaces.

(This report is derived from bug 144665)
Comment 1 Christian Zoz 2006-02-06 12:04:07 UTC
Andreas, please decide on that.
Comment 2 Andreas Jaeger 2006-02-06 12:18:49 UTC
I agree, this should be changed so that both support ifplugd.

But let's ask Thorsten make a final decision here.

Martin, in which cases do we use ifplugd?
Comment 3 Thorsten Kukuk 2006-02-06 13:25:31 UTC
It's ok for me.
Comment 4 Martin Vidner 2006-05-30 12:04:55 UTC
Ihno has asked about the status.

First of all, now we only use ifplugd by default on laptops (bug 164816), and never on SLES (bug 156388).

But this bug is still there - yast was originally designed to propose only one interface and changing it to propose more than one requires some care (see also bug 174801).

Reassigning to the new maintainer of yast2-network.
Comment 6 Thorsten Kukuk 2007-04-16 11:57:09 UTC
I don't see that we will need this anymore, on laptops we use NetworkManager.
