Bugzilla – Bug 148465
xfce without xfwm
Last modified: 2006-02-08 15:38:30 UTC
it's a pitty that there is no package selection which includes xfce4 (what about expert users pkg group or similar ?), so I did a search for packages "xfce" like before (9.3/10.0) and selected all listed RPMs (except debuginfo, see (6) below). up to 10.0 this automatically installed xfwm4 rpm too, but in 10.1-beta2 I ended up with xfce4 desktop with no window manager runing at all :-( IMHO there should a dependency on some xfce* rpm to xfwm4 (which one tries to start xfwm4, is that startxfc4) ???
I do not understand what you really want? You can use xfce apps (xffm, xfce4-panel) even without xfwm4. So i think it is right that thouse packages do not directly depends on xfwm4. I think it is not possible to create such selection, because some experts prefer WM, iceWM or even fvwm :-)

ok, you convinced me :) Did you found this behavior also in beta 1?
(In reply to comment #3) > ok, you convinced me :) > Did you found this behavior also in beta 1? I never tried beta-1, I've started 10.1 only at beta-2. at least with 10.0 and 9.3 plus betas (mostlikely 9.2 too) it was enough to select xfce* packages, I never had to search for "xfwm" before...
