Bugzilla – Bug 148476
ATI Xserver crash with "noaccel" and xfwm4
Last modified: 2006-02-07 19:57:43 UTC
while testing bug #148475 what's the reason for the slowdown I found another problem: with option "noaccel" in the device section for the ati driver the X server seg faults when I start "startxfce4" or just "xfwm4" from a plain xterm (xinit). twm, fvwm2 and kde don't trigger that crash with "noaccel", only xfwm4! Backtrace: 0: X(xf86SigHandler+0x7e) [0x44839e] 1: /lib64/libc.so.6 [0x2b4dd6b76a30] 2: /lib64/libc.so.6(memcpy+0x52) [0x2b4dd6bbbb22] 3: /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/drivers/atimisc_drv.so [0x2b4dd7f58060] 4: [0x1147900] Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Please add the Xorg logfile(s) (/var/log/Xorg.0*).
(In reply to comment #1) > Please add the Xorg logfile(s) (/var/log/Xorg.0*). in the mean time I did a clean install to beta-3, so the old log files aren't available anymore. I've tried now quite a while to reproduce the problem with beta-3 but the X server never crashed so far...
Ok. Closing as WORKSFORME. Feel free to reopen when/if it happens again and attach the logfiles.
