Description Marcel Hilzinger 2006-02-14 13:37:39 UTC
But the license is: Other uncritical OpenSource License

Please remove Bitstream Vera from the selection (it's the only package, so you can remove the seletion) or fix the license part. I remember, that there was a discussion about this, that Bitstream Vera IS Open Source.
Comment 1 Michael Gross 2006-02-14 14:00:23 UTC
This might as well be, but I suppose it is non-GPL. Non-GPL is not _really_ open source in the sense of the GPL ;) Those licenses could change at any time which could create unwanted side-effects. SUSE Linux OSS must be at all cost freely distributable.

Nontheless, let's ask Stefan for a comment here.
Comment 2 Stefan Dirsch 2006-02-14 14:06:28 UTC
Better ask Andreas for a comment ...
Comment 3 Michael Gross 2006-02-14 14:28:05 UTC
Andreas? What is the policy here?
Comment 4 Andreas Jaeger 2006-02-14 14:34:25 UTC
Juergen, could you comment on the status, please?
Comment 5 Juergen Weigert 2006-02-14 15:44:44 UTC
There is no legal reason to force this font in one selection or another.
It may legally appear on any Product.
Adrians choice?
Comment 6 Adrian Schröter 2006-02-14 15:51:03 UTC
The license could be considered as open source license. However, it is not an OSI approved license and we do not rely on this font.
So let's move the Bitstream-Vera package to the add-on CD for now.

AJ, okay for you ? Can you please reassign to Rudi in this case ?
Comment 7 Stephan Binner 2006-02-17 19:43:16 UTC
FYI there exists a new package dejavu with fonts based on Bitstream Vera (replacing the SUSE modified Bitstream fonts being previously in desktop-data-*). And a font provided by Dejavu is used during installation so moving them to an add-on CD would make installation a bit difficult/ugly. :-)
Comment 8 Andreas Jaeger 2006-02-20 20:12:50 UTC
Rudi, please move the bitstream package.
Comment 9 Ruediger Oertel 2006-02-21 01:38:46 UTC
the package is there. this bug is about the display of the package
in the installer (which probably genereates these lists from a
more or less hardcoded list of licenses)
Klaus: is that correct ?
Comment 10 Andreas Jaeger 2006-02-21 06:13:02 UTC
Ah, then it's a selection bug. Stefan, please remove BitStream Vera from the non-OSS selection.
Comment 11 Stefan Dirsch 2006-02-21 08:42:40 UTC

Doesn't that mean, that it should remain in the NON-OSS selection?
Comment 12 Andreas Jaeger 2006-02-21 08:57:29 UTC
No, it should only be in the "normal" selections but not anymore in the Non-OSS.
Comment 13 Stefan Dirsch 2006-02-21 09:27:29 UTC
done.
