Description Joe Crollard 2006-02-19 03:08:49 UTC
I installed suse 10.1 beta 4 today (coming from beta 3)..and noticed that on first boot it was very slow. I then did a 'top'...and saw that htdig was taking about 60% of my memory. Not exactly sure what that was..but I killed it and it went away.

Then, I decided to check out yast. Upon opening the new package manager, my system nearly came to a halt. Total lag...and I could barely move the mouse pointer. After finally opening a console, I did another 'top'. Here is the results from that

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
30992 root 18 0 261m 162m 9124 D 10.0 65.5 0:37.72 y2base

As you can see, it's taking up a ton of memory, and does this the entire time the package manager window is open.

Hope this helps.
