Description David Wright 2006-02-19 12:26:29 UTC
I kept my /home partition from my previous Beta, and I had played with Translucency and shadowing in my KDE setup...

On the first logon to the desktop after installation of Beta 4 (fresh install), the Composite Manager wrongly complains that it needs Xorg 6.8 or better (6.9 is installed) and additionally it needs the Option "Composite" "Enable" in the "Extensions" section of the xorg.conf file.

The second message is the correct message. For a user unsure of what is going on, the first part of the message could be confusing, it made me do a double take because I thought 6.9 was supposed to be included in Beta 4, and 6.8 was included in 10.0... It wasn't until I took a second look and read the rest of the message that it made sense.

Is it possible to only display the relevant part of the message?

not easily I guess, given that it breaks translations and we don't have enough time left to update that.. but we'll see.

We're in message freeze and composite manager is explicitly marked as experimental anyway.
