Description Forgotten User N1m2whZ-xl 2006-02-19 22:34:06 UTC
I have updated the system with y2pmsh from 10.1-beta3 to 10.1-beta4 using the factory tree snapshot Feb 17.

turion:0 00:00:11 ~ # cat /etc/SuSE-release
SUSE LINUX 10.0.42 (X86-64) OSS Beta4
VERSION = 10.0.42
turion:0 00:00:31 ~ #

If I try to invoke yast2 from remote via ssh (the local Xserver is presenting a black screen only, a different problem), I see this:

turion:0 00:05:09 ~ # yast2
/sbin/yast2: line 207: 9959 Speicherzugriffsfehler $ybindir/y2controlcenter $Y2QT_ARGS "$@"
turion:0 00:05:21 ~ #

The output of "rpm -qa --last" plus two logs of strace

yast2.prot holds the strace call plus error output.

Update in B4 does not work and is a work in progress:

http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs:Most_Annoying_Bugs

Closing it therefore.
Comment 3 Christoph Thiel 2006-02-20 19:20:45 UTC
This update was done using y2pmsh (the old package manager), which worked out well (which I verified already).
Comment 4 Stanislav Visnovsky 2006-02-21 08:51:13 UTC
This is not supported scenario under any circumstances. Boot from the installation media.
Comment 5 Forgotten User N1m2whZ-xl 2006-02-21 10:32:37 UTC
And then? A new installation?
This was the only way to update the system, and it is a valid 10.1-beta4 now.
You can verify that looking into the attachment.

But there is a bug: yast2 (x86_64) is segfaulting.
Please inspect the strace output.

With factory from today (060222), yast2 does no longer segfault.
But the filter selection only allows "search" and "summary".
Comment 7 Jiří Suchomel 2006-02-24 14:21:54 UTC
Please elaborate, what are you refering to . I mean that "filter selection" - is it in yast sw_single module or where?
Comment 8 Forgotten User N1m2whZ-xl 2006-02-24 14:55:13 UTC
Yes, in sw_single window, top left.
Don't invest - maybe it is a consequence of another bug (impossible to configure an installation source).
Comment 9 Jiří Suchomel 2006-02-27 08:56:21 UTC
So please re-check with beta5 (change the status back to ASSIGNED and change the summary when you find it again or close it if not present).
Comment 10 Forgotten User N1m2whZ-xl 2006-02-27 16:52:53 UTC
Yast2 does no longer segfault with beta5.
