Bugzilla – Bug 152399
supplementary scripts provide old versions
Last modified: 2007-01-18 09:09:52 UTC
I've left it a few days before reporting this bug in case it was just that the FTP server hadn't synchronized. The version of evolution-data-server in supplementary/GNOME has been updated to 1.5.90cvs20060206 (which I think is the same as Factory?) whereas evolution is still at 2.4.1 (while I'm pretty sure the version in Factory has been updated accordingly). This means that updating eds removes evolution itself (and therefore anything else that depends on evolution not eds).
checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details.
Any chance you can post/attach config.log? The latest 2.5.x Evolution builds on my box (but cooks the CPU too much for me to build packages - it throws an internal compiler error)

This still hasn't made it into supplementary for 10.0 or 9.3 will it any time soon?
Thanks for appointment. Automatic mirroring was disabled due to bandwidth problems.
Trying to upgrade Evo to 2.6 from the GNOME repository at gwdg.de fails with an unmatched dependency - gtkhtml2 >= 3.10 is required, but only 3.9.x is available, so it would appear the mirrors are still not being synchronized. Any ideas when this might be resolved? Evo 2.6 has a number of improvements that I'd like to use.
I am experiencing exactly the same issue as Des ... in attempting to update to the version of evolution found in supplementary ftp.suse.com (2.6.?), I get: gtkhtml2 not available: evolution requires gtkhtml2 >= 3.10.0- while the latest version of this module available to install is: gtkhtml2 installed version = 3.9.92-6
Packages are up-to-date in /work/CDs repository. Reassigning to Adrian. It seems, that update_desktop.neu copies for some reason from /work/built/dists/all/, where old version resides instead of /work/CDs, where up-to date version can be found. I don't know, whether using of this directory as SUSEDIR has any special reason. Can you look at it?
Any work done on this at all? The version of evo (and the exchange connector) that ships with 10.0 is driving me to fits. There are so many performance and other issues that it is verging on un-useable. I need to be able to get this upgraded ... and I don't want to have to compile from source if I can help it.
Tried to install GAIM today. Cannot ... requires EVO 2.6 which I cannot install because the supplementary is out of wack re: versions. I know it has been a busy time with the release of 10.1 --- but would appreciate an update.
Gnome/evolution does not build currently for 10.0.
Is the reason known? Comment #2 and comment #3 suggest it should build fine.
evolution-2.6 builds correctly at least in 10.0. Please compare: rpm -qp /work/CDs/all/full-10.0-i386+kde/suse/i586/gtkhtml2.rpm gtkhtml2-3.10.0-15 ls -1 /mirror/SuSE/ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME/update_for_10.0/*/gtkhtml2* /mirror/SuSE/ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME/update_for_10.0/applications/gtkhtml2-3.9.92-6.i586.rpm /mirror/SuSE/ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME/update_for_10.0/development/gtkhtml2-devel-3.9.92-6.i586.rpm /mirror/SuSE/ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/GNOME/update_for_10.0/source/gtkhtml2-3.9.92-6.src.rpm Note that update desktop scripts were called many times from this moment, but it copies old version there for some reason (it even replaces new one, if I copy it there manually).
okay fixed in cvs ...
excellent, thank you! Now, let's hope this makes evolution useable! ;-)
Supplementary isn't supported on 10.0 any longer.
Actually, supplementary was removed several weeks ago. Please go to Build Service GNOME:STABLE project to get packages. Some packages are failing on older SuSE versions due to missing dependencies. Feel free to send me patches to work around these problems.
