Description S3WL S#WL 2006-02-21 22:21:32 UTC
Attempted to start MySQL.

Found that there are a few missing packages:
MySQL
MySQL-Client
Perl-DBD-mysql
php4mysql

and found that there is one package in system twicw:

MySQL-Sharred-5.0.18-4

I am beginning to suspect that these ``missing packages'' are related to a packager problem.

How did you search for these packages? Please verify that they are _really_ not on the CDs by doing a filesystem search. There was already a report about this. That packages are listed twice in certain conditions is a known problem.
Comment 2 Michael Gross 2006-02-22 11:23:07 UTC
If these packages are really not on the CDs, try to add the Factory installation source

http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/

which contains all packages. These packages will be on the final DVD at least. However, on the CDs there are certain space limitations. Please notice that the maintainer has no influence on that.

While I am sure the MySQL packages will be on the final DVD, the DVD has space restrictions as well, and it can happen that not all packages from factory will fit on a single DVD.

From Beta5:
grep mysql INDEX.gz
./CD1/suse/i586/mysql-shared-5.0.18-5.i586.rpm
./CD3/suse/i586/php5-mysqli-5.1.2-10.i586.rpm
./CD3/suse/i586/bytefx-data-mysql-1.1.13.2-8.i586.rpm
./CD3/suse/i586/qt3-mysql-3.3.5-32.i586.rpm
./CD3/suse/i586/perl-DBD-mysql-3.0002-5.i586.rpm
./CD4/suse/i586/mysql-5.0.18-5.i586.rpm
./CD4/suse/i586/mysql-client-5.0.18-5.i586.rpm
./CD5/suse/i586/php5-mysql-5.1.2-10.i586.rpm

Let's go through your list:
MySQL - is on CD4
MySQL-Client - is on CD4
Perl-DBD-mysql - is on CD3
php4mysql - has been replaced with php5-mysql.

Most of these are *not* installed by *default* - but they are there.

So, everything is fine IMO.
