Description Mihnea Istinie 2006-02-22 14:21:31 UTC
with beta5 x86_64 on a AMD64-3800:

if you start the package manger in the running system, go to selections and simply press "accept" (without any changes) the some kind of powerfull machine ends up with a load of 9, 1 GB mem usage and is for around 45s/1min not usable. not even the mouse is moving any more.

after a while it's better again, but this load is insane.

a top snapshot (the 9 load was shortly afterwards):
top - 15:14:34 up 1:39, 5 users, load average: 7.73, 4.50, 2.34
Tasks: 104 total, 2 running, 102 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 13.8% us, 4.8% sy, 0.8% ni, 70.3% id, 9.9% wa, 0.0% hi, 0.4% si

During the installation everything was fine?
Comment 2 Mihnea Istinie 2006-02-22 14:45:17 UTC
yes, if not I would have stated it.
Comment 3 Stefan Hundhammer 2006-02-22 14:52:22 UTC
known problem of the solver
Comment 4 Klaus Kämpf 2006-02-22 14:53:22 UTC
Huh ?

Please provide y2log
Comment 5 Stefan Schubert 2006-02-22 15:28:22 UTC
Comparing results is too expensive. I will have to find another solution.
--> Switched off.
Comment 6 Stefan Schubert 2006-02-22 15:28:40 UTC
fixed

Sounds kind of like my problem

..although a bit different. y2base seems to take up a ton of memory and cpu usage.
