Bugzilla – Bug 153250
Konqueror does not have a Work-Offline feature
Last modified: 2006-02-28 12:35:36 UTC
A work offline feature as is available in Firefox should also be available in Konqueror. Else it is very difficult many times. If we want to read a page which we recently read but which is now down, we are not able to do it. The Work Offline feature should be enabled. I am using KDE 3.51-18 on SUSE Linux 10.0. Thank you.
Actually Konqueror does have this - see Settings->Configure Konqueror->Cache. In addition, if the network status module detects that the network is down, Konq automatically goes into offline browsing, cache only mode. Enable 'Switch KDE Network Status' in Various Settings->Scripts to get this behaviour. We will make it more visible in 10.1 and it will also use NetworkManager when installed for uptodate wireless status.
fixed for 10.1
Thanks. Now I *am* downloading 10.1 when it is released. Just a question of curiosity -- did you change the KDE Konqueror itself or the SUSE local copy? I mean, will other people using future versions on KDE on other Linuces see this Work Offline button too? Or is it SUSE-only? I hope you haev added a place where I can click in the status bar (or toolbar is okay -- like in KGet) where I can click to easily toggle between online and offline modes -- instead of always having to go to the menu? Please reopen this bug if such an easy-access mechanism has not been implemented. Thanks.
