Bugzilla – Bug 153376
Firewall (with default settings) blocks IPv6, leads to annoying timeouts
Last modified: 2006-02-27 08:24:36 UTC
Installed Beta5 from scratch, which enables SuSEfirewall by default and tried to run SSH. If the host I try to connect to only has IPv4 addresses, everything works fine. if the host I try to connect to also has IPv6 addresses in DNs, it takes quite some time (and a connection attempt timeout, it seems) until the SSH connection is established. Once I turn of SuSEfirewall, or use ssh -4 for force IPv4, everything runs smoothly.
cthiel reported the same, also with Beta5.
Gerald: Do you know the bug number?
If cthiel's issue? He didn't file a Bugzilla, but confirmed it to me in person (on the hallway) that he saw exactly the same problem as I did.
OK Ludwig: Assign it back if this is nothing for you.
