Description Pavel Nemec 2006-02-24 15:45:03 UTC
When inserting cd (full cd-rw) dialog appears with information that medium: Unmounted CD writer.
This message is from kdebase desktop files. Obviously for burning device.

I must admit I was puzzled about that myself, but as a matter of fact the KDE maintainers (not the SUSE ones :) decided that the user is more likely to be interested in the device having the CD. So they differ between "unmounted CD device" and "unmounted CD writer".

I'm not too sure why, but I won't change it now either as we're way behind message freeze. But I'll discuss with them why they picked that wording.

ok, after discussion I'll will fix one thing: change the label for your specific case to "Unmounted CD-ROM" - i.e. leave out the writer label if there is nothing to write.
Comment 4 Pavel Nemec 2006-03-01 09:47:06 UTC
I do not get it. If i insert CD in, CD-ROM became mounted.
But CD-ROM is much beter than CD writer :)
BTW why label is not "Writable CD" / "Rewritable CD" ?
Comment 5 Stephan Kulow 2006-03-01 09:48:41 UTC
because the label is for the device not for the media. This is a fundamental problem of that framework ;(
