After installing with CD 1 we have the initial reboot before we start copying with CD2. Once this reboot occurs, the install switches over to Text mode for the install. This happens on SUSE Linux 10.1 beta 5 as well as NLD 10 beta 5.

This is a known issue (announced on the B5 most annoying bugs page)
