Bugzilla – Bug 154202
YaST2 ignores package selection changes during update
Last modified: 2006-04-24 17:50:19 UTC
I performed an update from 10.1 beta 3 to 10.1 beta 5 and, during the package selection de-selected several games-related packages, and ensured that YaST2 was supposed to update Sendmail rather than swap to Postfix. After performing the update I went back into the package manager to check the installation went properly and, with the exception of the known bug where packages are listed twice, I also found that YaST had ignored my selection and had proceded to install the packages I had previously de-selected. I reported this on the opensuse-factory mailing list where I was asked to file a bug report and attach the YaST logs.

Should be looked into.
Logs are not sufficient. Please explain _exactly_ what you did so we can reproduce it here.
The exact sequence was I created a DVD from the CDs and booted using it. At the point where YaST asked whether I wished to perform a new install or upgrade, I chose upgrade. After YaST had identified the root partition, it proceded to go through the process of checking which packages to install, etc. Before accepting the proposal, I checked to see if YaST wanted to install a few packages that I don't want, namely the default selection of games and Postfix. I de-selected the games and Postfix, and set Sendmail to be upgraded. After the dependency check had completed and it had returned to the proposal again, all the packages I had de-selected were selected again. Repeated attempts to de-select them failed and, after a third attempt to de-select them, I allowed YaST to continue with the upgrade and they were installed.
Christoph, please test with current builds.
After testing with beta 9 show bug appears to have been fixed.
Klaus, taking comment #6 into account, do you still need someone to try to reproduce this? If so, I'll try to reproduce on monday.
Please re-check again
Ok, verifyed it myself.
