Description Kirk Coombs 2006-03-02 17:58:05 UTC
When reaching the hardware configuration screen in beta6 duing a VMWare (Workstation, 5.5.0 build-18463) install the graphics proposal gives "ERROR: No proposal". Obviouly, the X-Server will not start after this.

I later installed VMWare tools and let it re-write the X-Configuration. This configuarion will not start either.

Attached are my y2logs and SaX/X logs.

Same here. IMHO this is a dupe of #148271. '/usr/sbin/sysp -s xstuff' still takes all the memory.
Comment 4 Andreas Klein 2006-03-03 12:24:18 UTC
Same in GSX-Server.

Sorry I'm not able to setup vmware SuSE beta6 in our gsx server
it simply sucks everywhere. I need a login to this vmware beta6
installation. Thanks

ok, thanks for your verification. on vmware we need to call a X-Server
probeonly to find out some parameters, that's why it takes some time.

I will close this as fixed now but I'm still not completely
convinced that it is working on all vmware platforms... let's see
