In RC2 I couldn't find it. suselinux-manual_en is present in version 10.1-18-noarch, but other languages aren't. Or are manuals in other languages named completly different?

Reopening. Can't find the documentation in any other language than english in RC2.

If I build docudir, all the pdf files got included into the docudir package (modulo cs, which I'm going to add right now).  Maybe, machcd skips the translated books intentionally?  Lars, will you please check it?  It is mising here:
.../SLP/SUSE-10.1-DVD9-RC3/i386/DVD1/docu/

I did not check again the HTML versions, but they were surely available during the last weeks.

Have it:
suselinux-manual_de-pdf - disabled for suse101-dvd9-i386
suselinux-manual_en-pdf - disabled for suse101-dvd9-i386

same for the following pdf docs (html version is on dvd9): cs, es, fr, it, ja, pt_BR, zh_CN, zh_TW

We've only the suselinux-manual_en on CDs - all other manuals are disabled.

If there'S space: Either all - or only english.

I changed the README in "docudir", to list all PDFs now.  If we cannot add them for space constraints, we must change back the README.

I've tested the size with a new DVD-Build: the size is too big for a DVD9.

But we could add the "startup_<lang>.pdf"-files - seems to be a good compensation for me.

What a pity.  We deliver the startup guide as a printed manual anyway, but it is better than nothing (in case a German customer wants to read the English book)... We must find a way to make the PDFs available to the customers; they like these files (books) a lot.  Can we offer the PDF packages for download at least?

We have Factory for that. But currently we've only suselinux-manual_en-pdf in that place - no other pdfs available.

As I can see: all translations are GFDLed - so we can add them to the factory tree, if aj approves this.

Does this mean that the documentation won't be in the DVD9, or that the documentation won't be in any version? The costumers (at least me) like these files really a lot. Suse contains so many packages. Can't there be removed another package to have place for the complete documentation, at least in pdf OR html?

We have the html documentation already on the DVD9. The only problem is that we don't have enough space to include the same documentation as pdf on <CD-ROOT>/docu/<lang>/*.pdf

So a costumer like you already has the documentation (see susehelp center). But not additionally as pdf. 

Please add them to factory.

So whats left to do is a new README with only <lang>/startup_*.pdf in it.

And will the html documentation only be part of the DVD9 or also of the other versiions? In RC2 (32bit-CDs) also the html-doc is only avaible in english.

suselinux-manual_LL{,_CC} containing the HTML format should be part of all products, but it is okay to have them on the DVD9 only.

Lars, I just added docu/en/applying_patches.pdf to the docudir package.  Please make sure this PDF will be available on the 1st installation medium as well (together with the startup guide).

We don't have enough space for all pdf-docu on the CDs. So there will only be the HTML-docu (install via YaST and read in SUSEhelp-center), sorry.

So really WONTFIX for CDs. 
DVD9 will get the "startup_<lang>.pdf" for all languages and "applying_patches.pdf" in english.
