The man page of zmd shows e.g.:
FILES
       /etc/opt/novell/zenworks/zmd/zmd.conf
 
The correct file is /etc/zmd/zmd.conf.  Please check all paths.

REOPENING

From the man page for zmd:

/etc/zmd/initial-service
         Url  for  the ZENworks service that zmd will use
         at initial startup.  You can optionally specify
         a registration key on the next line.

That file doesn't exist.
