I see suse10.1 use the very old and unmaintained driver
( http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/ )
.. why? :(

My Philips PCVC740K ToUCam Pro
worke fine with 
http://www.saillard.org/linux/pwc/files/

but with the old driver no success

We use the version included in the main Linux kernel sources.  If you wish to get your device supported,
please get the author of the version you are using to get their changes into the main kernel tree.
