Bugzilla – Bug 161298
Build 828: First stage installation installs packages from CD1 + packages from CD1 of the Addon Product
Last modified: 2006-06-07 16:56:03 UTC
YaST installs packages from both CD1 of the base product + CD1 of the addon product (that was added prior in the installation workflow). The status overview doesn't change at all while YaST is installing those extra packages. YaST2 logs are attached to bug #161294
The slide show only displays what it gets from the back-end. If media change is handled correctly (i.e., the slide show gets informed that another CD is used) and the initial data are correct (number of products, number of media per product, number of packages from each CD, total byte size to be installed from each CD) everything should happen automatically. This used to work before libzypp with SLES, UnitedLinux and service packs - it can't get very much more complex than that scenario. There was no change in all the slide show mechanics. So if there is a new problem, it must have been introduced by the back-end. Add to that the fact that there are no debugging facilities whatsoever in all that short of setting up an installation server, adding debug logging in the YCP code there and doing installations with that scenario, the slide show is the wrong end to approach this.
It is not informed.
The not update progress is rather bad, I'd like to see this fixed for 10.1 RC1.

And YaST still installs packackages from CD1, even if CD1 done is displayed.
Just checked back with Build 904 and seeing the same thing again. YaST is installing packages from CD1 of the addon product, but the GUI is telling me that is's installing packages from CD1 of the base product, which is wrong. Installation ordering still seems to be broken.
Jiri, please, take look at the callback handling in YCP. What's expected from ZYPP?
Stano: global void CallbackSourceChange( integer source, integer media) This function should update current CD number, and progress status of all CD's
Looks like this callback was called at the beginning for CD1 but not for the Addon CD.

For whatever reason, 156424 was marked as a duplicate of this bug, and it is supposed to be fixed. But in RC1, I still saw that packages were installed after the installer displayed "Done" for the installation media. This was installing RC1 as an upgrade from a self created DVD.
Also happens when performin a new installtion from factory as well as from CD.

Still seems to be an issue in RC1.
(In reply to comment #19) > But in RC1, I still saw that packages were installed > after the installer displayed "Done" for the installation media. This was > installing RC1 as an upgrade from a self created DVD. sounds like bug 155283...
Fixed in yast2-pkg-bindings-2.13.60
Just watched the add-on CD being installed right after first installation CD during first stage with SUSE Linux Build 1009 + Addon 1009 (as ISO, see also bug 169085).
works as design.
does not happen with SLES10RC2
