Description David Wright 2006-04-02 14:20:52 UTC
After installing vanilla Beta 9, I added the extras DVD and loaded Acroread, Flash, Java and related packages.etc. Then clicked on OK.

It came up with 1 package for CD 1 and 2 for CD 5 in addition to the 19 for the extra CD.

It installed all of the packages for the Extras CD first, but didn't update the count or progress bar, after the first package on the Extras cd was installed, CD 1 came up completed, then it asked for CD 5, but didn't update the count for CD 5, then it asked for CD 1.

CD 1 then came up with the error "Media source cd:/// does not contain the desired media "

Comment 2 David Wright 2006-04-04 10:03:50 UTC
Just re-installed and replicated the error... Can't copy the logfile at the moment from the recovery console. There is only the y2logRPM, the following is the end of the file:
2006-04-04 11:37:03 readline-5.1-18-i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:03 zisofs-tools-1.0.6-10.i586-rpm install failed
rpm output:
error: Failed dependencies:
        mkisofs is needed by zisofs-tools1.0.6-10.i586

2006-04-04 11:37:03 zisofs-tools-1.0.6-10.i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:04 acl-2.2.34-9.i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:07 bash-3.1-18.i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:09 db-4.3.29-10.i686.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:10 fileshareset-2.0-62.i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:11 fontconfig-2.3.94-6-i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:12 libsidplay1-1.36.59-8.i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:12 libtiff-3.8.0-9.i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:13 pcre-6.4-9.i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:14 sqlite-3.2.8-10.i586.rpm installed ok
2006-04-04 11:37:14 unrar-3.5.4-10.i586.rpm installed ok

And that's it, it stopped with the error message to put CD 1 in at this point (even though CD 1 was in the drive). Clicking on Skip aborts the installation of packages and the machine then hangs on writing init.rd and needs a hard re-boot (left for 20 minutes before rebooting)
Comment 3 David Wright 2006-04-04 10:35:56 UTC
OK, just tried again and put CD 1 in before starting the actual install of the packages.

It fell over at the same point (asks for CD 1 to be inserted after installing unrar.

Doing another install without using the extras CD and it is now onto CD 2.

I renamed the y2logRPM file and chose not to format this time, I'll post the RPM logfile when the new install is finished (the RPM log is the only file that had been created).

Why is that? Can't you mount another partition and store it for retrieval there? Seems to be an issue with the packager - and even if the dependency is incorrect, it should not behave that way, so we need the logs.

Hmm, I seem to have got confused, part of the replies are for 162784... Let me reptrace this problem and get the correct logs. Sorry :-(
