Bugzilla – Bug 164572
yast requires yast sources and refuses other directories
Last modified: 2006-12-09 16:17:17 UTC
Yast installation sources have to be yast sources. You can't use normal directories with downloaded rpm on your hard disk, like it was possible in 10.0.
Please be more verbose, what kind of installation source are you trying to add, what is the exact error? Also attach /var/log/YaST2 as tarball.
Please reopen this report once you can provide more information.
Created attachment 78213 [details] .tar.bz2 archive from /var/log/YaST2 Sorry for answering late. (Also next time I'll provide directly more information...) When I click on the rpm in KDE / Konqueror, then I get a preview in KRPMViewer. Clicking on "Install with yast" or "Use directory as yast source" seems to have no effect. Then I've done the following: - calling YaST - Software / Change installation source - Add source / local directory - choosen /home/*/Documents/rpms (Which contains a downloaded rpm of scribus which I want to install. It isn't a regular yast source.) - displayes message that no yast source could be created. - the directory isn't added. When I click with the right mouse button in konqueror at the rpm and choose "Actions/Install with YaST", then yast starts, but displayes the message "no se han encontrado los siguientes paquetes en el soporte: scribus". ("The following packages couldn't be found: scribus") Doing the installation in konsole however works: linux-2z9m:/home/josemiguelbello/Documents/rpms # rpm -i scribus.rpm warning: scribus.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID f60166da linux-2z9m:/home/josemiguelbello/Documents/rpms # Program gets installed and is working.
Reopening.

I don't think it is a duplicate, but anyway - installation sources as just direcotries with rpms are not supported now. Will be in SP1/SL10.2
As this bug was marked as duplicate of 130102 (who is about installing rpm's via yast with konqueror), I had filled out a new bug report concerning only the impossiblility to use rpm-only folders as installation sources (bug 177905). Should this be merged?
Verified in 10.2 final.
Closing.
