Bugzilla – Bug 166932
syslog-ng should be recommended on update
Last modified: 2007-06-11 21:38:43 UTC
quoting Stefan Seyfried (bug 136859, comment #15): > syslogd does not provide the needed functionality. This is why syslog-ng is > default now ;-) > > Maybe we should mention in the release notes that after an update manual > selection of syslog-ng is recommended. This sounds like a very good idea ;-) Recommended text: SUSE Linux 10.1 now uses syslog-ng by default because it allows better filtering of log messages. If you do an upgrade and still use syslogd, we will not change your settings. However, we recommend to switch to syslog-ng by setting SYSLOG_DAEMON="syslog-ng" in /etc/sysconfig/syslog.
Ok.
we use syslog-ng as default since 9.3 guys...
comment #2 makes me believe that we do not add it to the RNs. The manual resp. the SDB should be adjusted instead if not already done.
Yes, let'S close this as WONTFIX.
