Description Quentin Jackson 2006-04-22 02:28:01 UTC
This is probably more a feature request than a bug, but is nonetheless as irritating as a bug. I love the Network Manager applet, I do not love the fact that it prompts me for an additional password after logging in to Gnome or KDE just to get my wireless network running. Let's face it, we all want less passwords. Can an option please be implemented to run it without the keyring manager, moreover, if we could have the option auto setup before login with a default network setting would be great too, I hate having to log into my laptop just to get the network running, it would be nice if it found it's nearest listed network and had that all sorted before we even got to the login screen.

Storing passwords isn't very secure. However this could be made an option.

We won't be fixing this for 10.1. Casa will handle this for SLE products. For 10.2 we will likely tie gnome-keyring into the pam stack.

Why not use the functions from SLE in Opensuse? It works great in SLE and CASA is in opensuse 10.2 alpha5 but it doesn't work. To enable CASA is an option. But enabling it should make it work. Not as today you notice no difference.
