Bugzilla – Bug 169062
bootloader forgots that an entry is the default entry
Last modified: 2008-12-21 11:46:21 UTC
When I change the name of the default entry in the boot menu and this entry isn't the first in the list, that yast "forgets" that this entry is the default entry and uses the first entry as default entry. Steps to reproduce: 1. My boot menue has several entries, first is "Linux" and is the default (indicated with a little symbol). 2. I mark "Linux" and change the name to "LINUX". It stays the default entry (indicated with a little symbol). 3. I move the entry one step down, so that it is the second entry. It stays still the default entry (indicated with a little symbol). 4. Now I change the name to "LINUX2". Now there is no longer the symbol indicating that this is the default entry (not in this entry and not in any other entry). 5. When applying it and rebooting, then the first entry is used as default.

You can change this easily by clicking the 'set as default' button. Anyways, this is strange behaviour. (I can reproduce here)
Still in 10.2.
We have not fixed this yet. It is also related to another bug when YaST updates the system. Setting version to 10.3.
still not working in 10.3 - setting to 11.0
reassign to yast2-bootloader maintainer
My guess is that this bug was introduced when using the UI generators - the section name needs special handling, which I couldn't find in the current code.

Vox pupuli, vox dei ;-) FIXED in yast2-bootloader 2.17.22
