Bugzilla – Bug 183639
Main Menu - Rename operation quirks need to be resolved .
Last modified: 2012-05-15 17:00:13 UTC
Build - SLED 10 build 1308 Problem - The user is able to have more then one Recent Documents entry Rename operation in progress. This is inconsistent behavior compared to other areas of the desktop (ie Rename operations in Nautilus). This can lead to potentially confusing situations since the only way to currently cancel a rename operation in the Main Menu is to highlight the entry in question and hit the enter key. Closing the Main Menu, pressing the "Esc" key or selecting other entries in the list do not cancel the rename operation. Steps to Reproduce - - In the Recent Documents UI select an Entry and choose the Rename Operation - Now select another entry and choose the Rename Operation - Close the Main Menu UI. - Reopen the Main Menu and notice how the Rename operations are still in progress. Expected Behavior - I would expect the Main Menu Rename Operation to be consistent with how Nautilus does rename operations. This means, one rename operation at a time, cancelling or submitting the changes when the entry loses focus, etc.
Created attachment 88451 [details] Screenshot This screenshot shows a Main Menu in a state where multiple rename operations are in progress. Once in this state, the user has to do a lot of work to cancel the operations.
Moving to 10.3.

Sorry for the spam. I'm mass-closing gnome-main-menu/slab bugs: gnome-main-menu has gone unmaintained upstream because it's not usable in GNOME 3, and is not shipped since 12.1. I don't expect any maintenance updates for it in 11.4 either.
