SLED - can't add printer - printer not found
Last modified: 2006-07-03 12:56:25 UTC
This bug is for SLED 10 RC3 - there's no SLED in the products list, please forward it to SLED people, thanks. My USB printer is HP LaserJet 1022. Printer was recognized, new printer wizard started - I selected Manufacturer HP, Model LaserJet 1022, Driver hpijs (recommended) and I clicked on the Apply button. A dialog window appears - Error - Printer not found: LaserJet-1022. Following error message is in /var/log/cups/error_log: E [03/Jul/2006:09:39:21 +0200] add_printer: bad device-uri attribute 'hal:///org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_3f0_2c17_JM05QB7_if0_printer_noserial'!
If you test our business products, you should have a special contact to us so that you can report bugs even for our business products. Don't use the "hal" backend if it doesn't work for you. Prefer the usual "usb" backend. Which "new printer wizard" do you use? Prefer YaST. I know about your problem only if you use the Gnome printer setup tool and therefore I marked it as duplicate of bug #154299.
