Bugzilla – Bug 207410
dm-raid: Installation aborts when probing harddisks
Last modified: 2006-09-25 12:25:29 UTC
I'm using a Dawicontrol DC-154 fake-raid controller (Silicon Image SiI 3114 Chip) with RAID-1 functionally enabled in the controller's BIOS. While YaST is probing harddisks, the installation stops with error message "An error occured during the installation". I attach hwinfo in one file and the following information in another file: fdisk -l dmsetup ls dmsetup info dmsetup table /proc/partitions /proc/mounts /proc/swaps /proc/mdstat Also I will attach the YaST logs. I actually enabled Y2DEBUG (if this is not necessary for further bug reports, please tell me).
Created attachment 99358 [details] hwinfo
Created attachment 99359 [details] information mentioned above
Created attachment 99360 [details] y2logs
Justing booting the machine with ssh=1 sshpassword=... would be fine. And Y2DEBUG is not needed for normal tests, the default mode is verbose enight for almost all cased.
Problem is found and fixed. Fix will be in Alpha5. Due to the nature of the bug you may work around it by restarting YaST2 from linuxrc after the crash. The second time YaST2 should succeed. I provided also a installation source at nfs://10.10.1.53/usr/INST/CD1 with a fixed version of libstorage but there are some package checksum problems so that you must deal with some annoying popups when installing from there.
