Bugzilla – Bug 208076
dmraid: bootloader configuration failed (GRUB)
Last modified: 2006-11-08 16:42:42 UTC
I'm using a Dawicontrol DC-154 fake-raid controller (Silicon Image Sil 3114 Chip) with RAID-1 functionally enabled in the controller's BIOS. The configuration of GRUB failed. I'm using the fixed installation system, which Thomas Fehr provided in Bug #207410. The GRUB shell error message was: --------------------->----------------------- grub> root (/dev/mapper/sil_agajddbjcefb,0) Error 23: Error while parsing number grub > install --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 /grub/stage1 d (hd0) /grub/stage2 0x8000 (/dev/mapper/sil_agajddbjcefb,0)/grub/menu.lst Error 12: Invalid device requested ---------------------<----------------------- I attach the following information in seperate files: /boot/grub/menu.lst /boot/grub/device.map /etc/grub.conf YaST logs hwinfo Last I will provide the following dmraid information in one single file: fdisk -l dmsetup ls dmsetup info dmsetup table /proc/partitions /proc/mounts /proc/swaps /proc/mdstat If you want I can provide access to the machine via VNC/SSH.

With Alpha 5 it's still the same. Do you need the Alpha5 logfiles as well? I'm raising the severity. All "BIOS RAID" (FakeRAID) systems with activated RAID functionality will be affected by this bug. Please re-adjust the severity, if you think that the level is inappropriate. Thanks.
