Description Ray Clark 2007-01-27 18:09:50 UTC
This is OpenSuse 10.2 Final (The OS field does not seem to list this)

I probably have the terminology wrong because I do not have the screens in front of me, but I believe it will be clear.

During install, when loading CDs, the system periodically prompts for the next CD. The main window lists the CDs that will be used in groups: The 5 CDs of the main system, then the "Add-On" CD as another group.

When a CD is needed, a dialog box pops up asking for CD1, CD2, etc.

Eventually it asked for "CD1", which I associated with the first CD of the 6 CD set. What was WANTED was "CD1" of the ONE CD set for the "Add-on". It did not occur to me to put in the Add-on, since it is referred to as the Add-on CD everywhere. "CD1" always means the first CD of the 5 CD set in other contexts.

This kept me going for several days until I noticed the background list and tried the Add-on CD and it worked:

Solution: Enhance the pop-up dialog box which requests CDs to ALSO indicate the group (e.g. CD1 of the "Add-on" group).

Thank you.

suseforum post (for exact details, nothing new conceptually, but it shows the confusion that occurred):

Install started by booting "CD1' downloaded, dated 12-1 on server. Checked MD5SUMs on download, verified CDs before starting.

Went smoothly through CD1, 2,3,4,5, and addon, then wanted CD1 again.

I fed it the same CD1 I started with (Booted), and it said that it was not the right CD. It wants "20061214-195003 CD1'

The CD1 I started with has the number 20061201 132443 in media.1/media. I assume that this is the pertinent number.

Any ideas why the install wants a DIFFERENT CD than the one I started with, and where I can get it?

I checked all 6 CDs, and the CDx's have the same number (20061201 132443) and the add-on has 20061201 153538
