Description Andreas Graf 2007-09-19 22:06:46 UTC
After a standard installation + XEN, xdm and gdm leave the graphics screen unusable. This happens with nv and vesa drivers, and with both xdm and gdm, and from runlevel 3 with startx. gdm becomes unusable after entering the password, xdm doesn't even ask for a login name. It is possible to connect via network, top shows X with 100% CPU usage.

On the other hand, the sequence X -- xterm -- gnome works and gives a fully functional gnome session.

The same system works with a standard (non-XEN-) kernel, with both xdm and gdm, and with both nv and vesa drivers in any combination.

hardware used: DELL inspiron 9400, nVidia Corporation GeForce Go 7900 GS

This sounds a duplicate of bug #300496. In fact, I just looked up the specs for Dell Inspiron 9400, and it uses core 2 duo processor.
