This WIFI card was working with the kernel 2.6.22.5-25-default and as soon as I did a regular update with zypper update to the kernel 2.6.22.5-29-default the WIFI is no longer available.

Yes, you need to remove the patch. The kmps patch we did as test did not contain the ipw module. But this is not a bug in RC1, it just happened
