Bugzilla – Bug 329906
Wifi reconnection problem after s2ram resume
Last modified: 2007-10-01 19:25:08 UTC
I have a dell XPS M1210 with a Intel 3945 wifi card + bluetooth. suspend with s2ram works on my laptop except that wifi can't reconnect on resume. Hopefully, I have a switch to stop the wifi card that make possible to "reboot" the card... After many tests, I can report this behavior : - after resume, knetworkmanager can see all the wifi networks available, - knetworkmanager fails to reconnect on my network (or any network : connection stops at 28%), - if I switch off and on the wifi card, knetworkmanager can reconnect (if bluetooth mouse is off) - If my bluetooth mouse is on, it is immediately recognized after resume. - But if my bluetooth mouse it on, knetworkmanager can't reconnect, even after switching off and on the card. So I can make all this stuff work well with this steps : 1) resume 2) switch off the wifi card 3) switch on the wifi card without touching the mouse 4) selecting my network without the mouse (with the pad) 5) when the connection has ended, touch the mouse to get it recognized. Of course, it would be perfect if everything could reconnect at resume. Hope this help to make the 10.3 bugfree ! I can provide more information if necessary. Marc
This problème is related to the Intel closed source driver I think. But you can use the new iwlwifi driver (without binary deamon), it support resume operation (but actually not the hiddent network).

I had a look in my packages and actually I'm already using iwlwifi package (updated) but the problem still occurs. I don't know what you mean by "binary daemon" or "hiddent network"... Sorry, I'm only a testing user with little programming skills ! I could read in the related bugs that Intel drivers are not clean at all and that it is difficult to solve that bug. In my case, the bug can be avoid by reseting the wifi card so it is not a very important bug. Thanks for all that work ! I'll open a champagne bottle for the 10.3 final releases ! Best regards, marc
