gnome maintainers please to fix the file location or the reference (in yelp?).
Comment 2 JP Rosevear 2007-10-22 12:35:05 UTC
The gnucash documentation is in a separate package, install gnucash-docs.

Coolo, please add it to the default pattern install for 11.0.

gnucash docs not found

According to yast2 all 3 available gnucash packages are installed and the location is the problem. I believe the Beagle Indexer (maybe htdig) is looking for the docs in

gnucash is looking here
/usr/share/gnucash/gnome/help/gnucash/C/gnucash-guide.xml

it is found
/usr/share/gnome/help/gnucash/C/gnucash-guide.xml

Why is this marked as fixed when it clearly is not fixed yet? Suse has had this bug since 10.2 for KDE users.
Comment 6 Magnus Boman 2008-03-19 09:06:39 UTC
This is still an issue with latest Factory
Comment 7 Vincent Untz 2008-04-22 23:57:17 UTC
Duplicate of bug 373282: it works nicely with the package I submitted a few minutes ago.

I'm not sure that the patch submitted in duplicate bug 373282 addresses the full problem. From what I can see, the patch Vincent Untz has contributed is to yelp. However, if you are running KDE and install gnucash & gnucash-docs, these do not depend on yelp. openSUSE has khelpcenter now handle all help docs in KDE, including Gnome apps, and thus no longer makes yelp a dependency for gnucash-docs. Therefore, correcting the problem in yelp only helps those running Gnome, and continues to leave the problem that appears to have plagued KDE users since 10.2. If I am correct on this, then this needs to get referred to a KDE maintainer for a fix and not just a Gnome maintainer. No?

I'm not changing the status, but I hope that this gets revisited if what I say above is correct.

David: the bug was about the issue in GNOME (help got broken because of the yelp/rarian changes). If the gnucash help didn't work in KDE before, then indeed the fix didn't change anything for KDE, so it will still not work. That's a KDE bug that is different from this one, though, so a new bug should be opened.

(note that hopefully, in the future, we'll have GNOME and KDE sharing the metadata about help, so this kind of issues wouldn't happen anymore)
