Gnome NetworkManager no wireless networks shown ( detected ? )

In openSuSE 11 on an FSC Amilo Si1520 with ipw3945 wireless, after updating from factory the applet does not show any APs to connect to. The errors from running nm-applet (comment #7) only indicate there was already an instance of it running. The 'scan_capa' capability is not relevant here for scanning. It's for deciding whether to use AP_SCAN=1 or AP_SCAN=2 when trying to associate with a hidden AP. From the logs it looks like sometimes some do show up ('FON_UMC711')? But that association attempt failed with some weird memory corruption issue or something. The most frequent thing in the logs though is that NM gets killed before it has any chance of finishing the scan, right after it has started wpa_supplicant to get the scan results. Why is that? Do the APs show up in the result of '/usr/sbin/iwlist eth1 scan'? Do you have the latest wpa_supplicant from factory?

NetworkManager is now working properly again after updating from factory last night. Alas this seems to have broken the "ifup" connectivity. Will open separate bug for that. Not sure whether this is revived or makes a new bug: NetworkManager doesn't show _any_ wireless networks, although iwlist wlan0 scan shows quite a few. Also wpa_supplicant not running. This is after a clean install from alpha3 DVD & updating from factory today. After "clean" installing from Beta1 DVD & update from factory NetworkManager now shows wireless access points but will not connect ( selecting anyone achieves nothing ).

I have a problem like this. It does not show me any wireless networks to connect to, but if I manual enter the info it will connect.
The problem from log files from comments #15 and #17 is fixed. Please retest with beta 3 (NetworkManager-0.7.0.r3649-x) and reopen if it still does not work.
