Bugzilla – Bug 364449
Status of Security Fix Marked as 'Do not install' Does Not Preclude the Same Update as being Marked as Still Available
Last modified: 2008-02-25 16:31:25 UTC
IF a security update is marked in Online Update as 'Taboo- Do Not Install' or 'Do Not Install' will not hold for next session. Situation: In online update a security update is present and the user marks the update as either Taboo - Do Not Install' or "Do Not Install and closes the operation by clicking on Accept. The patch is not installed and Online Update completes its function without installing the so market security update. The problem now is that if either Online Update is run OR the OpenSuse update Applet check again for available updates, the do not install flag is NOT maintained. The major issue here is the user cannot mark a security update as Taboo- Never to be installed' without every subsequent request for available updates indicated the same security update needs to be installed. Form this point on the OpenSuse Update Applet WILL continue to advise that new security updates are available despite 1 security update being marked as Taboo. For this reason further updates cannot be identified by the Applet and it is now of no relevance or usable. The online update Applet is now of no value when other updates are present as it will continue to indicate the update marked as 'taboo' should be installed.
