grub hang installtion
Last modified: 2010-02-11 16:45:25 UTC
I have little bit complicated setup 11 partition. I use KDE install cd and select to use partition 10 as root and I also select to format it. I did not set anything else. Installation process hang and top reveal that grub consume 99% of cpu for more than 20 minutes. Killing grub helped. Logs will follow. top - 12:13:30 up 36 min, 1 user, load average: 1.06, 0.99, 0.84 Tasks: 68 total, 2 running, 66 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie Cpu(s): 77.3%us, 2.2%sy, 0.0%ni, 19.2%id, 1.2%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.1%si, 0.0%st Mem: 1034904k total, 793176k used, 241728k free, 5252k buffers Swap: 2104472k total, 0k used, 2104472k free, 665180k cached PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 5854 root 20 0 5908 596 452 R 99.4 0.1 26:10.84 grub 1 root 20 0 10572 5496 3016 S 0.0 0.5 0:12.20 init 2 root 15 -5 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 kthreadd 3 root RT -5 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 migration/0 4 root 15 -5 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.02 ksoftirqd/0 5 root 15 -5 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.04 events/0 6 root 15 -5 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 khelper

Assumed fixed by latest OBS check-in that builds with known compiler.
