Description Vincent Untz 2008-04-17 18:34:45 UTC
1. Run gnome-display-properties
2. Click detect
3. See that you have a second monitor in the canvas. The size looks good
4. Look at the proposed resolutions for this monitor: they're not good.

More specifically, it should list 1440x900 for me. And it lists 1400x1050 (which is the resolution of my main monitor)
Comment 1 Vincent Untz 2008-04-17 18:38:16 UTC
Note that it works fine if I run "xrandr --output VGA-0 --auto --right-of LVDS" first.

Which driver and what is the output of xrandr?

I don't have the external screen anymore... And I'm not sure on which computer it was -- so it was either a r300 card (running with the radeon randr12 driver) or a newer radeon card running with radeonhd.

See bug #441404 about making sax2 not set up static configurations, so that the tools will be able to actually use the resolutions that are reported by monitors.

Marking as duplicate as the SaX bug is the root of these problems.
