Description Peter McPherson 2008-06-06 10:29:49 UTC
Suspend function is not in the KDE3 desktop menu of openSUSE 11.0, RC1. From a terminal, powersave -U (suspend to disk) appears to work but I cannot resume (maybe because I have wifi keyboard and mouse with USB dongle?). Powersave -u (suspend to RAM) does not do anything except return the message "suspend to RAM request sent". I have not looked at KDE4 yet. My installation of Kubuntu 8.04 (on the same PC) has a very fast (about 5 seconds) suspend to RAM and it resumes nicely.

Here is some more information. First, forget the comment that I cannot resume from powersave -U. This is apparently because I am using a wireless keyboard plus USB dongle.

KDE4 DOES have the suspend to disk and suspend to RAM options in the menu. But the KDE3 problem is still there, ie. the suspend to disk option (or powersave -U) works fine. Suspend to RAM option (or powersave -u) does not work and returns the same message as for KDE3.

Bug 398279 may be part of the same problem.

I have the same issue..

This might be related to the fact that i am missing the

Yast> System> Powermanagement

item in yast..

This occured on all three machines i upgraded from 10.2 and 10.3

Two laptops and one desktop..
There is no package i could find to add this option in Yast

I am now able to resume from suspend to disk, after I changed a few things in BIOS. But there is still a problem - I cannot reconnect to my router. I will report this as a separate bug.

I have reported this in bug 405058.
