Bugzilla – Bug 404356
DSL connection not started at boot
Last modified: 2010-11-27 21:39:02 UTC
I have a DSL connection (a Sagem modem with the eagle chipset) and the connection is set up to start at boot, but nothing happens (I have to start the connection with cinternet). I did not work with opensuse 10.3 either (the system has been upgraded from 10.3).
Is there any error during boot ? Did you configure your modem via yast2 ? Thanks
1. I have seen no error. 2. Yes. I changed the networking configuration from using network manager to the old-fashioned one and now the connection works fine. So the problem is probably that network manager does not see the dsl connection configured (I have already reported this as another bug).
Then reassigned to NetworkManager maintainer. Tambet, in case we don't support this scenario, it should be documented
NetworkManager in 11.1 only uses the configuration from it's own connection editor (accessible from control center and applet's right-click menu). Does it work when you configure the DSL connection in NM's connection editor and enable "Connect automatically" there?

I run OpenSUSE 11.0 now and prefer not to upgrade to 11.1 yet. So please let me know whether you want me to try the 11.0 NM or prefer to wait until I upgrade. I am not sure how to configure a DSL connection with Network Manager (maybe it does not work yet?).
Cezary, It's a long time, would you mind try it in 11.2?
11.0 is obsolete now and there was not enough information for this bug to get fixed. I'll close this as NORESPONSE. If you can still reproduce it in 11.3 or a milestone of 11.4, please reopen the bug and move it to the appropriate product. Thanks!
