Description Ben Keeley 2008-06-30 19:24:40 UTC
Connected to WPA wifi network from Lenovo 3000 n200 using the iwl3945 driver functions fine. Look at connection information from system tray wifi icon and correct details retrieved. Look at the connection information from the Network: Wireless from 'Computer' menu and very different IP details listed.
Only 1 wifi network configured and no physical cables connected.
This image shows the difference:
http://www.yeleek.co.uk/images/Screenshot.png

On the right is correct info from system tray, on the left is incorrect info from 'computer' menu. Information under 'computer' menu changes under each reboot.

This also occurs when using the gnome livecd of Opensuse 11!

Thanks

I can reproduce this even without WPA (i.e. with a plain unencrypted wireless connection). Magnus, would you have time to take a look at this one, since you were working on g-m-m's network status? :)

Will do.

For what it is worth, this doesn't seem to be the case on the 11.2m8 builds. Clicking on the "Network: Wireless" in the Main Menu no longer brings up the connection information screen. It brings up the "Network Connections" screen where such connections are configured.

Sorry for the spam. I'm mass-closing gnome-main-menu/slab bugs: gnome-main-menu
has gone unmaintained upstream because it's not usable in GNOME 3, and is not
shipped since 12.1. I don't expect any maintenance updates for it in 11.4
either.
