Description Matthew Craig 2008-08-18 14:56:58 UTC
Using the default radeonHD graphic drivers and an AMD-ATI 3680HD video card. Second monitor configured Dual Head Mode with Xinerama with 1680x1050 (WSXGA+) (1-2-R). After reboot, dual monitor is working at GNOME login screen, but second monitor signal stops after login and desktop is only on first monitor.

Workaround: Run this following xrandr command after login from the command line. Second monitor desktop works as configured.

xrandr --output DVI-I_2/digital --right-of DVI-I_1/digital

Added KDE4 on top of my opensuse-GNOME installation. This problem does not occur in the KDE4 environment. After login to KDE4, both monitors work as configured.

I'm assuming that if you configure your screen in the GNOME control center, it will work fine in recent versions of openSUSE (11.3, eg). If this is not the case, please reopen the bug. Thanks!
