Description Vylik 2004 2008-11-30 16:10:10 UTC
I cannot browse and sending files via bluetooth Microstar USB Bluetooth Star Key 2.0 V2 Class I dongle.
http://www.czechcomputer.cz/product.jsp?artno=49982&localelang=en_US

Output of lsusb:
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 1131:1001 Integrated System Solution Corp. KY-BT100 Bluetooth Adapter

After problematic pairing with Nokia 6300 I still cannot browse and sending files via bluetooth. In var/log/messages I see this messages:

In openSUSE 10.3 and 11.0 Microstar bluetooth adapter works properly. I had the same problem with Ubuntu 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/268502

It seems that the new btusb driver which is used with 11.1 is not backward
compatible with your dongle. Please try to install and use the deprecated
hci_usb package. If it works for you, then we know where the problem is.

Comment 7 Radek Bucek 2008-12-02 15:57:27 UTC
I have the same problem with:
- ASUSTek Computer, Inc. BT-183 Bluetooth 2.0+EDR adapter (0b05:1712)
- Micro Star International Bluetooth Dongle (0db0:1967)

Hci_usb is not a solution to the problem.

Did pre-11.1 work with those?

> Hci_usb is not a solution to the problem.

If it worked up to 11.0, it looks like what changed is actually the new driver.

Did you make sure that only hci_usb was loaded when you tried it?
Comment 9 Radek Bucek 2008-12-02 17:03:10 UTC
I am using only OpenSuse 11.1 RC1, but it worked in FC9 and FC10 (without nautilus-sendto).

I will check tomorrow what is the difference between btusb and hci_usb regarding this dongle.

The same situation on my desktop. Today I install package hci_usb-0.1-2.39.i586 Modul hci_usb was successfully loaded but my usb bluetooth still doesn't work :(

Comment 12 Gabriel Fróes Franco 2008-12-27 14:41:29 UTC
The same problem here.
btusb does not work for my device. Installed hci_usb and blacklisted btusb on my system (it was loading even with the hci_usb installed). Still the bluetooth dongle is not detected by the KBluetooth.

Attached the lsusb and lsmod output.

Does loading the btusb module with the parameter "reset=1" help?

Even loading the module with the parameter reset=1 Microstar bluetooth does not work. I tried to change the kernel but with the latest stable version of the Linux kernel 2.6.28 bluetooth does not work too.

I have the same problem with the Belkin F8T009 Bluetooth USB Adapter. It worked fine under previous openSUSE versions.

I have tried it with utusb, utusb reset=1 and hci_usb. I always get the following in /var/log/messages:

It has been reported 3 dongles not working with openSUSE 11.1 . Unfortunately I am not able to fix this issue in the near future. I have updated the Hardware compatibility List [1] and will try to keep it updated as I test new HW. You can report this issue to the upstream mailing list [2]. Other distributions are also affected [3]. I am going to resolve it as WONTFIX.

worked fine with opensuse-11

please..is there any workaround? I really(!) need this to work.
