Description Olli Tuominen 2009-01-07 11:28:48 UTC
After distro update screen resolution is correct 1440x900 but taskbar is limited to 1024x768. This is same in Gnome but it can be changed from sax but it doesn't help gdm/login part.

I will attach screenshot what I mean.

Run the following command in a terminal as a workaround;

xrandr --auto

We had another user reporting this in #opensuse-gnome today. That user upgraded from 11.0 to 11.1 as well.

Original bug for 11.0 and this issue was https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=385553

I can verify with a fresh install it recognize screen right.
Comment 7 Vincent Untz 2009-01-20 18:06:13 UTC
Federico: I wonder if it could be related tothe infamous bug with intel drivers. IIRC, we don't apply the patch anymore since it wasn't rebased. But if it works with a fresh install, maybe it's not...

Didn't see duplicates of this, so only P3 for now.
Comment 8 Federico Mena Quintero 2009-05-15 17:13:42 UTC
I have a fix for this; it's already in SLE and I'll push it for 11.1. The original patch for 11.0 was in bug #310208; I have a new patch in bug #477845. I'll attach it here in a second.

This extra patch from bug #479684 keeps the panel from moving to the external monitor on some laptops.
