Some Intel Cards block ports 623 and 664. This leads to randomly hanging RPC requests.

Please add 623/664 to /etc/bindresvport.blacklist

Maybe we should also release this as a maintenance update for 11.1/SLES11.

Committed to all my trees; we will need to update 11.2 glibc anyway, and this will be included in next SLE11 update (and SLE11SP1 of course).
