User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091016 SUSE/3.5.4-1.1.2 Firefox/3.5.4

I have installed openSUSE 11.2 32-bit GNOME from DVD. When ever I try to shutdown computer from Computer -> Shutdown -> Shut Down; it will go back to GDM login.

Shutdown from terminal with halt works.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on Computer
2. Click on Shutdown
3. Click on Shut Down
Actual Results:
It will go back to GDM Login screen. Even clicking the Shut Down button from the GDM login screen then will not work. If I am to login from then, it will go to a black screen and hang.

Expected Results:
Should shutdown properly

Any feedback from this? openSUSE KDE seems to be unaffected.
Comment 2 Leonardo Chiquitto 2010-01-14 13:29:32 UTC
I remember having this problem on 11.2 GM. It no longer happens on Factory, so I believe it was fixed by a newer GNOME version. Not sure if the fix will be back ported to 11.2.
Comment 3 Forgotten User 43hR8jU1CO 2010-01-14 17:23:18 UTC
Hi, so does that mean that no fixes will be avialable? It has also happened on my HP 2140 netbook.
Comment 4 Leonardo Chiquitto 2010-01-14 17:29:17 UTC
That's something for the GNOME team to answer.
Comment 5 Matthias Hüller 2010-01-16 09:55:18 UTC
I'm having the same problem with openSUSE 11.2 on my Thinkpad T400 when trying to shutdown via "Computer -> Shutdown -> Shut Down".

a) Sometimes the shutdown works properly
b) Sometimes the shutdown just takes me back to GDM login ==> Then I'm able to log in again
c) Sometimes the shutdown just takes me back to GDM login ==> When I try to log in again, openSUSE continues the shutdown after the "keydown" of the last char/symbol of my password (without pressing "enter" or clicking somewhere)

Very strange... and very annoying.

GNOME is ok in Fedora 12 and Ubuntu 9.10. Seems like an openSUSE 11.2 issue.
