Bugzilla – Bug 587980
Virtualbox installation does not have Mouse Integration
Last modified: 2010-03-30 09:18:04 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux; en-US) AppleWebKit/532.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) rekonq Safari/532.4 When installing openSUSE 11.2 (using the netinstall image) on Virtualbox, I was pleasantly surprised to find the Mouse Integration (MI) was working in the installer. This is no longer the case when installing Milestone 3 on the same versio of Virtualbox (again using netinstall). This is not a major bug of course, but this was something that used to work in 11.2 (and I got at least one fellow "SUSE"fied when he saw how easy it was), so it would be a shame to see it regress. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start an installation of openSUSE 11.3M3 2. Tada... 3. Actual Results: MI is not available in the installer Expected Results: MI should be available in the installer (this *was* the case in 11.2)
Hi Zachary ! thanks for bug report, there were problems with xorg driver + I add small diff from upstream svn : ------------------------------------------------------------------- Thu Mar 18 11:16:17 UTC 2010 - mseben@novell.com - added vbox-x_crash.diff to fix issues with guest additions see:http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/6198 ------------------------------------------------------------------- Fri Feb 26 17:59:48 UTC 2010 - masterpatricko@gmail.com - Use version 1.7 xorg mouse and video drivers on 11.3 ... this fixes will be available in milestone 4 and I hope MI will work there, -also my plan for 11.3 is to add also guest-additions for live-cd so also other features like screen-resize,clipboard,shared-folder will be available in vbox ... bye
Glad to hear a fix is coming. Looking forward to Milestone 4!
Hello, Just did test install of OpenSUSE 11.3 Milestone4 (KDE LiveCD) in VirtualBox 3.1.6 VirtualBox is hosted in Windows Vista. I confirm that mouse integration works. Issues: - After Install to hard disk and reboot, video adapter wa snot recognized, and X not started. But I got YAST2 running autoconfiguration in text mode. When it finished, I rebooted VM once more, and KDE4 was running. What needs to be done for the next release (Milestone 5) is upgrade of VirtualBox in OpenSUSE to version 3.1.6 According to this bug report: Guest Fedora 12 hangs during login in graphic mode => Fixed in SVN http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/6198 there were fixes in VirtualBox 3.1.6 for latest Linux kernels (ver.2.6.33).
Created attachment 351036 [details] OpenSUSE 11.3 Milestone4 - KDE4 - running in VirtualBox 3.1.6
For the record: Here is Smolt profile for this system (OpenSUSE 11.3 Milestone4 - VirtualBox) http://www.smolts.org/client/show/pub_8ea7ed9d-8983-4d0c-bb5a-16418784d7ef But I am surprised that there were offer to submit this profile after installation. I had to send it manually using command -> smoltSendProfile
Vadim: Thanks for posting your comments and for interest, mouse integration is working on Mileston4 so closing as fixed (this bug was about not working mouse integration see the topic), the rest issues with X is reported in bnc#581636
