Bugzilla – Bug 601595
YaST2 Network and NetworkManager/NM applet don't startup
Last modified: 2010-05-03 21:39:43 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; nb-NO; rv:1.9.2.4) Gecko/20100417 SUSE/3.6.4-1.1 Firefox/3.6.4 1. After installation of 11.3 M6 x86_64 Gnome, the NM applet wasn't visible on the Gnome panel, although wired network and Internet did work. 2. Tried to start 'yast2 network' both from the YaST2 control center and using command line, but nothing happened. 3. Starting 'NetworkManager' from command line also put the NM applet on the panel and it worked as it should during the login session. However after restart, the NetworkManager and nm-applet were gone. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.See details above 2. 3. Actual Results: See details above Expected Results: 'yast2 network' should start, NM applet should start after login
this is also in KDE, the problem is on yast2 network(doesn´t start)
The yast2-network problem was reported in bug #600576 and is already fixed in Factory. I'm not sure about the NM problem reported here, so I won't mark it as a duplicate yet. Can you please confirm that using the latest packages from Factory resolves the problem?
i took the latest package from the factory and now yast2-network works fine!
Yes, I installed yast2-network-2.19.25 from factory, and was then able to start 'yast2 network'. From there NetworkManger could be selected (ifub was set by default). Then also the nm-applet started and worked ok.
Arnold and Terje, thanks for testing. This means the bugs are really the same. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 600576 ***
